Sample four-week progression

Chair-supported strength · Concept illustration; follow the safety instructions

Week 1 — Learn the movements

On two nonconsecutive days, try a comfortable chair-supported strength session using the existing exercise library. On another day, explore supported balance and gentle mobility. Rest as needed.

Week 2 — Repeat with confidence

Repeat the same movements if comfortable. Consider a small increase in repetitions or duration only when movement feels steady and symptoms do not occur. Additional rest is always acceptable.

Steady movement · Concept illustration; follow the safety instructions

Week 3 — Build consistency

If the earlier sessions feel comfortable, continue with two supported strength days and one balance or mobility day. Focus on steady form rather than speed. Seated alternatives and additional rest are always options.

Week 4 — Review and adapt

Repeat comfortable movements and notice which activities feel manageable. Keep support nearby and reduce repetitions or return to seated movement whenever needed. Progress is not required every week.

Suggested session structure

  1. Warm up with a few minutes of easy seated or supported movement.
  2. Practice chair sit-to-stand or seated leg extensions, with a stable chair and a comfortable range.
  3. Try supported heel raises or side steps while holding sturdy support.
  4. Finish with slow comfortable mobility and a cool-down.

Choose a comfortable variation

1

Leg strength

Supported chair sit-to-stand, or seated knee extensions if standing is not comfortable.

2

Balance

Hold a sturdy counter for supported weight shifts, or practice upright seated posture instead.

3

Mobility

Use gentle seated shoulder rolls and ankle movements, or supported standing movement if appropriate.

Safety and accessibility

Start at your current ability level. Use a stable chair or support and stop if you feel pain, dizziness, chest discomfort or unusual shortness of breath. If you have a medical condition, recent surgery or concerns about exercising, consult a qualified healthcare professional. This is general education, not medical care.
